CX-GL Honda MCC

I Used To Have One Of Those

GRAHAM

Could have been worse

Recommended Posts

On the way back from Wiltshire my bike felt like it was going on reserve. I turned the tap, but it still lacked power, and wouldn't rev over 5000 rpm.

My thought was that the stator was playing up, especially as I had intermittent charging problems a few weeks ago.

I was dreading it, mainly because I could do without the expense at the moment. Triple bypass, stator, gaskets, oil change.

So I stuck it in the shed and ignored it.

After a few days I got the bike out and went over the stator and pulsar readings. I've got an ignitech, so it did seem unlikely,

and the readings were all ok. I decided to clean the carbs, as it had at first seemed like a lack of fuel.

I had also ordered a replacement voltage regulator in the hope that it was that causing the charging problems.

I breathed a sigh of relief when I found the problem. Sorted it, fitted the voltage reg and went for a road test.

This was the cause of bad running............

Jeez Graham, no wonder it was running rough!

Is that the float tab sitting next to the jet?

No, it's part of the casting. It was just the jet rattling around in the bottom.
