Postby ericry » Tue Feb 07, 2012 8:55 am

No, not for me !!

Got an email from an irish fellow asking me if I knew where he might buy a CX500 custom as he had one years ago !!

I believe he's looking for a bike thats had all the work done on it and can be ridden away...

PM me if you have such a beast and I'll pass your email address to him.

Thanks.
Eric.

I believe there is a GL400 (same as the 500 custom but smaller engine) in the Preston area. It belongs to Phil (Totherun) Capper's son and was a runner last time I saw it.

Looks like Eric gave the chap my details, he's just bought my 400. Im pretty gutted really but very glad shes going to a good home.
I resolve to have another one eventually, once all this educational and work crap is dealt with.

With regards the price of my bike, to many it would be top dollar...but If you've ever seen one in nicer condition please feel free to point it out......also ask the owner what they've spent on it LOL I'm making a significant loss and I didnt even do the total restoration....just extra bits and bobs...I shudder to think what Geoff spent.

One things for sure though Im gonna miss my 400, always starts first time every time and always a gorgeous ride. Precisely why it has to go, no time to do her justice any more :(

All the best
P

Well done Pete.

People seem to gasp at over £1000 for a CX but will happily drop £500 on a CX then over a couple of years drop another £1000 on doing stuff to it !!

With a triple bypass, shocks, seals, good tyres and an ignitec thats probably over £1000 straight away !!

If a CX has fairly decent paint you could say its worth another £500 to £1000 at least.........a full respray with decals etc will set you back up to £1000...this is for a top class job......no point in dropping £500 for an average job.....if you're getting it done then get it done right.........personally I'm not a cleaner/polisher so its something lost/wasted on me !!!!

Very easy to spend £1500 getting a bike right and not even have done anything with paintwork....so I'd say your price was fair Pete...and maybe if times were better you could have got £1750 or more !

Eric.
