exhaust part

Postby syd » Mon May 09, 2011 9:00 pm

Has anyone got a collar for where the exhaust goes into the cylinderhead that I can buy off them.
The one on my custom rusted apart coming home from Cardiff yesterday and it got a bit noisy as the flanges had nothing to push against. The one I mean has a flair on it and fits over the pipe. Not the one the bolts fit through.

Can you identify it on the parts list?

Thanks Mike,I've had a look on the parts list Dave and it is a complete mystery to me.
If you look at any pictures of down pipes they have a flared end where it goes into the cylinder head and this collar touches that flared bit.

It sounds like the end flange on the downpipe has sheared - you need a new down pipe.

I have a spare pair at home in the drawer but I am not back home until Saturday.

I think he means the COLLETS.
they sit in between the exhaust clamp flange and the raised portion at the end of the down pipes.
When you tighten the flange it pushes on the collet which pushes on the downpipe and crushes the crush gasket.

Pete just looked on parts finder & it does not show any collets only a flange which is part
of the front pipe which the finned flange butts up against...chris

The Honda exhaust doesn't have any colletts - I think a Motad does though.

It is a motad and they are colletts. The downpipes are stainless that I bought a year ago but the collett on the left has fallen apart.
Mike has called around with two. They are bigger than the ones on it but I'm hoping to hacksaw it down to size.
Thanks guys...I must learn how to take photos and then how to put them on the site.

Sounds like a result to me!

Pictures can either be stored 'somewhere' on the internet (except Facebook - you can only access them from FB) and included with an IMG tag from the bar above or you can upload a picture as an attachment from your computer using the Upload attachment tab below.
