Oh just to hijack thread for a moment.
If anyone has a spare chrome pipe clamp, Colin , AKA Victor, needs one to finish a rebuild.

I ,sadly, thought I had loads rolling around, BUT could only find one :0( when I went looking

Ride safe everyone

The battery issue you've described POSSIBLY may be the ignition switch Check if its clicking into position , off /on/pilot etc if its sloppy or has little sense of position change it as the blades or contacts in the switch can fail to separate the on or light circuits or give poor supplies when starting.

Check the red feed at the switch and rest of the slowly rotting wires for corrosion. Euros 5 contact switches and Zs etc 6 contacts.

If you have a meter check if its holding near to 13v everything off at the battery and 14 or above engine running. Unless the battery is knackered there should be little sign of the battery falling below 12.8 approx unless a drain is flattening the battery ,disconnect the red /red white monitor with a meter then reconnect red/red white
If the battery level falls rapidly suspect the switch and a load not controlled when in the off position

Check also the fuse area for poor connections and or battery bonding of the red/red white through the solenoid.

Otherwise hand in pocket for a battery.

Pete has kindly donated the one that he was able to find, so I only need one more of these brake caliper shims. Anyone out there got one going spare?

I spoke to David Silvers about these shims and they got back to me. They couldn't find a parts diagram with the part number on, but one of the blokes recognised the type of caliper and checked it against another bike and the caliper part numbers matched. The parts list for the other bike had the shim part number listed so they were able to supply what I needed :D

For future reference the shim part number is 45112-445-631 which is also used on the turbos I believe.

Thanks to Johnny and PeteG for helping me out.

Hi All,

I have just checked the part No and found that it is the same one that is on my 1982 Honda Magna 750, so a handy thing to know, if you are not sorted yet Rod let me know, MIKE.
