    New era

Yes, seems to be functioning OK.
  2. Changing the mechanical seal is no big deal but you cannot get the old sized seal any more and replacements are about 2mm bigger. I have done a few and just used a Dremmel tool to round out the hole slightly larger. No scientific exact drilling required. I fitted the new seal with a grey compound which was recommended on this site, cannot remember the name but it filled out any ovalness in the hole and sealed well. You should use a Honda special tool to pull the seal into the hole but you could improvise using thick washers, nuts and a treaded bar but dont drift them in because they will distort and crush( or so i'm told!!!!) Christmas gathering South East members.

Guys, Snow getting quite deep here in Watford and road warnings on M40 so I will not be attempting the 90 min journey. More snow forecasted for later so I shall stay at home. Sorry for the letdown. Andy.

    Christmas gathering South East members.

Chris and Marty, I've had news from Delboy and Lance. They have both had to pull out from our meeting on Sunday so from what I see. we are down to three definite members attending. I have not seen anybody else state an interest so we need only book one table near the fire- are we still going ahead with the meet up? I will leave it up to you to decide but I will still be there if one or more says "YES". Thanks, Andy.

    My cx500Z j.p.s. project

nice looking bike Howard, even more so knowing that the project was started in September. It has a nice period look with the nose cone and stickers. Another to add to your fleet, well done. Andy.

    Christmas gathering South East members.

Hello All, Just to remind you that we are a week away from our south east section gathering meeting at the H cafe from 11am. I have posted the details on an earlier thread. It would be nice to see a good attendance so make the effort if you can. Pete cannot make it which is a shame but we will be thinking of him and wishing him a speedy recovery- Good luck mate. If you are planning to attend just let us know but adding your name to this thread and I wish those who cannot attend a very Happy Christmas. So who's coming! Andy.

    A true classic

Nice pictures Marty. The bike is actually a 1981 CX500 Deluxe which mainly ended up on the US market. Japan and Australia had them as well( I think). This one has some very nice wire wheels which may be from CRK cafe racer kits and do add some bling, original wheels would have been black reverse comstars with a 16 inch rear wheel. It is based on the B model CX500 but has stepped seat, higher bars, smaller rear wheel and lost the plastic fairing in favour of the Custom headlamp, clocks and indicators ect. This one looks quite standard and I quite like it, not totally rare as they do get imported into the UK as grey bikes but Honda did not make vast numbers of them. If anybody has a set of similar wheels or just the hubs or plates, I would be interested. Andy.

I'm sorry Daniel, It was me who suggested that the CX was yours. No offence intended as this was the bike featured in CMM in the summer and your name was on the same page, so I assumed it was yours ops. It is a 1982 European C model which did not get sold in the UK as the Euro had just been introduced but these got the same electrics and front brakes as the Euro and the stepped seat is from the US Deluxe CX (I think). Some say that it was Honda's way of using up the old stock but not many were made although there have been 400cc versions made for Europe as well. Andy.
